Open Double Barley Twist

Michael Silver is a retired psychology professor and accomplished wood turner. His specialty is “segmented wood turning,” a process that begins with several small pieces of specialty wood glued together prior to being mounted on the lathe. Segmented wood turning allows for more creative patterns and the incorporation of rarer woods usually found exclusively in board form. While the traditional wood turner uncovers forms residing within a solid block of wood, the segmented wood turner is able to create forms that exist first in the imagination. Silver
is a member of the Connecticut Wood Turners Association and the American Association of Wood Turners.
